The Centre of Latin American Studies, University of Cambridge and the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Sociologicos invite you to a series of three talks entitled "Semana por la Esperanza" December 1, 3 and 4, 2020.
"Semana por la Esperanza" provides an opportunity to address these issues at a pivotal time in our history. Please join is to discuss these and other urgent and relevant topics with three renowned academics: Professor Ceclilia Menjívar (UCLA), Professor Marta Soler-Galart (Barcelona), and Professor Åsa Wettergren (Gothenburg).

The Centre of Latin American Studies, University of Cambridge and the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Sociologicos invite you to a series of three talks entitled "Semana por la Esperanza".
Many aspects of our everyday life are being tested in the hardest possible way. Thousands of people are becoming ill every day around the world. Many are unable to visit their parents, their children, or simply their friends. The very concept of society appears to be changing due to the pressure of distance and isolation. Many people are loosing their
jobs, their financial stability, their capacity to support themselves and those they feel responsible for. At the same time, structural differences we were able diplomatically to ignore are now unavoidable.
Questions about race, religion, and national origin are at the centre of political discourse in many countries including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and also The United States, France and The United Kingdom to mention only a few.

"Semana por la Esperanza" provides an opportunity to address these issues at a pivotal time in our history. Please join is to discuss these and other urgent and relevant topics with three renowned academics:
Professor Ceclilia Menjívar (UCLA), Professor Marta Soler-Galart (Barcelona), and Professor Åsa Wettergren (Gothenburg)
